LAS VEGAS—Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine active-duty, reserve and civilian personnel, and retirees from Nellis Air Force Base and the Las Vegas valley came together to thank their brothers in arms for their service during a ceremony at the Executive Airport May 22, 2008. Close to 40 wounded troops and their families traveled from Bethesda Naval Hospital and Walter Reed Army Medical Center to enjoy an all-expense paid vacation, sponsored by the Venetian Hotel-Resort-Casino. The ceremony entailed the U.S. Marine Corps color guard posting the colors, Master Sgt. Robert Brooks, Nellis Air Force Base’s Airman Leadership School flight chief, singing the national anthem, and Sheldon Adelson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., as the guest speaker.
