The largest free public event in Nevada returns to Nellis Air Force Base Nov. 8 and 9 when the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, city of Las Vegas and Aviation Nation Foundation, host Aviation Nation 2008 -- the Nellis Air Force Base-Las Vegas Air Show.

This year, Aviation Nation's theme is "The 21st Century Air Force." Several military air demonstration teams, including the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the F-22 Raptor and the U.S. Navy F-/A-18, will participate. They will be joined by several civilian air demonstration teams, including Sean Tucker and Red Bull.

The two-day event will also depict the history of American aviation and salute the recent accomplishments of America's military in operations around the globe through numerous military and civilian ground displays. Nearly 100 aircraft covering everything from the earliest days of aviation to some of the nation's newest military aircraft are scheduled to be on display.

In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to meet some of the personnel and see some of the aircraft that have recently supported military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Historical displays, community exhibits and a Kids' Zone will also be included in the event. Food, beverages and novelties will be available for purchase.

General admission and public parking at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be free. Round trip shuttle bus transportation to and from Nellis will be available ($3 donations accepted). A handicapped parking area will be designated at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and handicapped-accessible shuttle buses will be available.

Due to security, the only access route to the show for the general public will be via the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The general public must process through the security lines and ride buses to and from Nellis. The general public will not be allowed to walk onto Nellis Air Force Base to attend the air show.
