The National Football Conference division champion Green Bats defeated Viper 13 -12 after stopping the Viper comeback with 2:14 left on the game clock when Quarterback Justin Vandervander closed the score to within one point with a touchdown toss . The outcome of the championship was almost a mirror image of the game the two teams played earlier in the season when the 422nd TES team beat Viper AMU team 7 - 6. "They gave us our toughest challenge this season on two different occasions," said 422 TES Quarterback Harold Young. Young helped lead the 422nd TES team, which consists of members from the 98th Range Wing and the 59th TES, to its eventual win with two touchdown passes, the game winner of which came with four minutes left to play. "Teamwork is the reason we won. All season it has been what helped us win," he said following the game. "I'm exceptionally proud of them," Lt. Col. William Tracy, 59th TES commander, said of the 422nd TES. "They played a great game against a great team."
