Nellis OSC donates money to Friends of the Military Families Published Jan. 2, 2009 By Susie Shugg NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- On Dec. 18 the Nellis Officer Spouses Club donated $2,000 to Friends of the Military Families, a nonprofit private organization that rounds up funds and volunteers in support of military families. The donation was given to the Loan Closet at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. This money will be used to purchase the supplies which can be loaned to incoming and outbound families on Nellis and Creech AFBs. Items available at the Loan Closet include air mattresses, high chairs, infant car seats, pots and pans, dishes, irons and port-a-cribs. The OSC is a charitable, nonprofit organization that works primarily through the Nellis Thrift Shop to raise funds. Money is then donated to activities that support servicemembers of Nellis and Creech AFBs and their families. The club also awards scholarships to high school seniors and Airmen's spouses pursuing college education.
