Andrew Wikoff NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to replace the batteries in your calculator and sharpen your pencils, tax season has finally come. The folks at the Nellis Tax Center are ready to provide you with the best and most cost efficient tax services. Nellis and Creech Airmen may call the tax center to set up an appointment at (702) 652-2645 as early as Jan. 20. for the center's opening Jan. 26. Appointments are required for more difficult returns which would require the completion of other tax forms in addition to the 1040EZ or 1040A. The center will service Creech Airmen every Wed. from 4 Feb. to 15 April. Walk-ins will be seen 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for individuals filing a 1040EZ or 1040A forms only. All other returns will require an appointment. Individuals must bring the following items with them to the tax center: Military ID Card Social Security Cards for you and all dependents Recovery rebate amount for 2008 (Information can be found at www.irs.gov) Birth dates for primary, secondary and dependents on tax return Current year's tax package if you have received one Wage and earning statements Form W-2, W-2G, and 1099-R from employers Interest and dividend statements from banks (Form 1099) A copy of last year's Federal and State returns (if available) Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit (blank check) Other relevant information about income and expenses (i.e., total paid for day care and day care identification numbers) To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign Another option available is to visit the Internal Revenue Service website at www.irs.gov and search the term "Free File." This free program allows you to file your own return and is available online Jan. 16. This site can also be found through the money link on Military One Source.
