Warfare center honors tradition with new commander Published May 14, 2009 By Nellis Public Affairs 99th Air Base Wing NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The United States Air Force Warfare Center will hold a change of command ceremony May 18 at 9 a.m. in the Thunderbird Hangar here. Maj. Gen. Stephen Hoog will relinquish command to Brig. Gen. Stanley Kresge. General Kresge comes to Nellis from Peterson AFB, Colo., where he served as the director of Air, Space and Nuclear Operations and was responsible for organizing, training and equipping all Air Force space and missile operations. General Hoog has been at Nellis since 2007. He initially served as the commander of the 57th Wing, before his selection as the USAFWC commander in 2008. He leaves Nellis to become the deputy of Combined Forces Air Component Commander for U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia. The mission of the USAFWC is to shape the way the Air Force fights through advanced training, operational testing and tactics development in air, space and cyberspace. The USAFWC ensures that our Airmen are sent into combat well trained and well equipped for integrated combat operations.
