Nellis to hold 2009 National POW/MIA ceremony, Sept. 18 Published Sept. 16, 2009 By Airman Cynthia A. Haughton Nellis Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- A ceremony in honor of the National POW/MIA Recognition Day will be held at Nellis' Freedom Park Sept. 18, at 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. The ceremony will be hosted by Brig. Gen. Kevin McLaughlin, United States Air Force Warfare Center vice commander. The ceremony will include a dedication of a ceremonial wreath with names of missing in action Nevadan veterans being recited, a "21-gun salute" and an F-16 "missing-man" formation flyby. Across the country, observances of the National POW/MIA Recognition Day will be held on military installations, ships at sea, state capitols, schools and veterans' facilities.
