Canadian jet diverts to Nellis Published Oct. 24, 2009 By Nellis Public Affairs Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. -- A Canadian CF-18 Hornet safely diverted to and landed at Nellis after the pilot jettisoned its external fuel tanks at approximately 12:15 p.m. Oct. 24. The fuel tanks landed on federal property 15 miles north of Nellis and one mile west of Interstate 15. There were civilians on the ground approximately 600 yards from the fuel tank's landing site. None of the civilians were injured and the incident is under investigation.
