NOSC announces scholarship recipients Published June 22, 2010 Nellis Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The Nellis Officers' Spouses' Club announced the 2010-2011 scholarship recipients, as well as the recipient of the Sonia Balliet Heidenreich scholarship, earlier this month. The following received the NOSC scholarship: Zachary Boring, Arbor View High School Tiffaney Beachey, Legacy High School Peiwei Zhang, Clark High School Diana Kresge, Legacy High School Allyson Busch, Green Valley High School Kristyna Fong, The Meadows School Spouses: Denise Delgado Christine McNulty The recipient of the Sonia Balliet Heidenreich scholarship is Diana Kresge. This scholarship is awarded to someone who exemplifies the characteristics that were Sonia--kindness to all, compassion, full of energy, love of life, volunteer efforts, adventurous spirit and an unending quest for knowledge. Sonia was a member of the NOSC while her husband Ben was stationed at Nellis until July 2009. Sonia served on the board while at Nellis, and even though her health would at times keep her homebound, she never let that derail what she'd signed up to do for the NOSC. A ready smile, a quick laugh, and kindness to all, Sonia's memory will live on. She had a unique blend of compassion, energy, love of life, philanthropy, adventure, and a quest for knowledge--exactly the attributes to look for in a role model and exactly why the NOSC is honored to dedicate one scholarship every year in memory of Sonia Balliet Heidenreich.
