Change in customer service hours at Military Personnel Section Published Jan. 25, 2011 By 1st Lt. Vincenza Grossman Military Personnel Section NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- In order to keep pace with the emergence of new personnel program processes which require fewer visits and walk-ins due to the larger virtual presence, the Military Personnel Section will be changing its customer service hours beginning Feb. 14. The new customer service hours will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Personnel experts will be on hand for emergency situations from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ID Cards, DEERS, passports, and Awards and Decorations customer service hours remain unchanged. Those offices will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday with the exception of federal holidays. By altering customer service hours, members of the MPS will have more time to train on the ever-changing personnel services delivery transformation initiatives, to improve data base integrity, to conduct contingency training and to focus on customers' needs generated virtually. In addition to visiting the MPS in person, customers have around-the-clock access to many personnel self service actions through the Virtual Military Personnel Flight. Also the Total Force Service Center is available to help answer questions. To reach the Total Force Service Center, call 1-800-525-0102 (toll free and available 24 hours a day, except on Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years), DSN 665-5000 (available 24 hours every day for active duty), or DSN 926-6528 (available 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time for Guard and Reserve members).
