The U.S. Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Officer School celebrated yet another major milestone recently, as they graduated the second class of the Advanced Maintenance Superintendent Course Feb. 11.

"Students are selected from across the United States Air Force because they have the greatest potential as graduates to expand combat capability," said Lt. Col. William Maxwell, AMMOS commandant. "AMMOS is an advanced combat support school that is extremely difficult and fast paced. AMSC teaches advanced combat skills to make these senior NCOs stronger warriors to make America safer."

AMSC graduates are qualified in all aspects of effects-based logistics through the phases of Agile Combat Support: Readying the Force, Preparing the Battle Space, Positioning the Force, Employing and Sustaining the Force and Recovering the Force. Graduates understand principles of contingency and crisis action planning, and can integrate expeditionary combat support to enable effective combat sortie generation. They can skillfully manage aircraft fleet-health challenges to ensure combat-ready weapons systems in support of the Air Campaign. Graduates are able to effectively share their knowledge with their peers. They also act as an advisor to maintenance leadership on expeditionary logistics execution at home station or deployed.

"We are excited to see continual development of the AMSC," said Maj. Mike McConnell, AMMOS director of operations. "Our AMSC graduates will bring a new level of expertise back to their wings, and along with AMMOS graduates, improve the effectiveness of their units based on the tactics, techniques and procedures learned here. But they will also feed back into the TTP development process, helping to make the entire maintenance and logistics enterprise better."

To mark the occasion, U.S. Air Force AMMOS invited Chief Master Sgt. Eric Jaren, the command chief of the Air Force Materiel Command, to be the guest speaker. "AMMOS has provided a phenomenal curriculum that has taught the future leaders of our Air Force how to create world class organizations."
