98th Range Wing captures back-to-back bowling crown Published June 2, 2011 Nellis Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The 98th Range Wing "Range Rats" bowling team captured their second consecutive base bowling championship May 25 edging a strong 57th Maintenance Squadron AMMO team by eight pins in the championship match. In the double elimination tournament, 57th AMMO came through the winner's bracket, and the 98th Range Rats took the loser's bracket. The Range Rats beat the AMMO team twice to claim the 2011 base championship. "We have all the respect in the world for the AMMO team and love competing against these guys - they are really tough competitors, and the closeness of the two matches - a total of 49 pins separated the two teams - is a testament to how good they are." said Larry Prince, the Range Rats' captain. "Wait till next season - we'll be ready!" said Master Sgt. Kipp Bourgeois, AMMO team captain. The Nellis intramural bowling league runs from August to May. The members of the Range Rats are: Col. Jon Larvick, Maj. Moses Meza, Lisa Coker, Ted Gruber, Alex Hauf, John Lovering, Carol Patterson, Jeff Patterson, JR Peterson and Larry Prince. The members of the AMMO team are: Master Sgts. Lawrence England and Kipp Bourgeois; Tech. Sgts. Jason Neiss and Robert Irvine; Staff Sgts. Michael Phelps, Joshua Basham and Jason Brackins; Senior Airman Ryan Schnettgoecke; and Raymie Phelps.
