Nellis Gate Closures Published June 13, 2011 By A1C Whitney Jackson Nellis Public Affairs NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Base personnel and visitors to Nellis Air Force Base should expect delays at the Beal gate, VA gate, and Range road gate, as the Nevada Department of Transportation and Paving sub-contractor to expedite the paving of Las Vegas Blvd starting June 10. The Beal Gate will close June 10 at 5:30 p.m. and will open June 20 at 5:30 a.m. The VA gate will be open 24 hours from June 20 at 6 a.m. to June 24 at 6 p.m. The Range Road gate will close June 20 at 9 a.m. after the morning rush and will open June 24 at 5:30 a.m. prior to the rush for the Electric Daisy Carnival night. The project, scheduled to be split into several weeks, will reduce traffic flow in the area. The 215 gate hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday starting June 13 thru June 23 to help the hospital traffic and relieve some traffic coming through landings to get to the hospital. To alleviate traffic during peak construction periods, it is recommended for personnel to not use Sloan Road June 20-23 as they will be limited on their ability to turn south toward the base during this phase of construction.
