Drug Take Back Campaign

The National Drug Take Back Campaign will be held 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Exchange. Department of Defense beneficiaries will be able to walk up to the booth and dispose of their prescription and over-the-counter medications in a disposal box provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Only solid, oral dosage forms like tablets and capsules will be accepted. There will be no questions asked or counting medications since disposal is purely voluntary. Pharmacy members will be available for medication counseling and may also provide brochures such as Food and Drug Administration disposal recommendations and the Mail Order Pharmacy program. In the past, Nellis AFB collected 104 pounds in April 2011, 116 pounds in October 2011 and 136 pounds in April 2012. The April 2011 collection was DEA lauded no.1 in Nev. The October collection was no.1 out of Air Combat Command bases. The goal for this event will be to collect 150 pounds.

Specific locations of collection sites nationwide can be found in the DEA diversion website at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov. For more information, contact the pharmacy at 653-3201 or 653-2747.
