USAF Academy seeks admissions liaison officers Published April 30, 2013 By Lt. Col. Dean Phillips USAF Academy Admissions Liaison Officer Las Vegas -- The Admissions Liaison Officer Program is an organization of Air Force-affiliated representatives who recruit, interview, evaluate and prepare candidates for the United States Air Force Academy. Any Air Force officer may volunteer for the program. The goal of an ALO is to proactively identify, advise and evaluate quality candidates who have the potential to succeed in the Air Force. The majority of candidates are current high school students. However, each year active-duty and reserve Airmen receive appointments to the Air Force Academy. The ALO corps is comprised of Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, active-duty and retired officers and civilians. Currently, there are 11 ALOs working in Nevada and eight specifically assigned to Las Vegas. In addition to working with candidates, the ALO's are active in the community, promoting both the USAF Academy and Air Force ROTC programs by participating in college fairs and advising area high school guidance counselors on the USAF Academy and the application process.
