NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The 99th Force Support Squadron launched a virtual ID card renewal program for Active duty dependents here, July 20.
Although still in the early stages of implementation, this new program is designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 by allowing this population to virtually complete most of the process online.
“It’s something that we’ve wanted to do for a while, and with the onset of COVID, it was clear that this was the right time to put it into effect,” said Capt. Courtney Wiser, 99th Force Support Squadron Military Personnel Flight commander.
Thus far, the program has reduced the section’s wait times while also keeping customers safe.
“Once their ID card is ready, it will take five minutes for the individual to come in and get it opposed to 45 minutes of waiting in the lobby,” said Wiser. “It saves individuals a lot of time as well as helps keep people safe.”
Currently the program is only available to Active Duty dependents, but Wiser’s team plans to expand this option to retirees and their dependents in the future.
