Capt. Thom Jackson (left), Nevada Highway Patrol state trooper, speaks to the 820th RED HORSE at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Jan. 23, 2015. Jackson attended the ceremony to honor the bravery shown by, Tech Sgt. Adam Dixon, Staff Sgt. James Maxwell and Airman 1st Class Christopher Fitzgerald during a flash flood rescue on Aug. 4, 2014. The three Nellis AFB Airmen, who were assisted by three members of the 799th Air Base Squadron from Creech AFB, took quick, live-saving reactions to rescue an elderly couple trapped in their car during the flash flood on U.S. Route 95 north of Las Vegas. The Airmen were able to save the couple before the car was swept away by the water. For their actions, Dixon, Maxwell and Fitzgerald received commendation medals from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
