79th Fighter Squadron commander returns home

Lt. Col. Craig Andrle, 79th Fighter Squadron (FS) commander, prepares to embrace his family on the Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., flightline after returning from a deployment May 4, 2017. For the first time since 9/11, the 79th served as the only fighter squadron in theater, and the number of fighter jets available to them dropped from 18 to 12 – a limitation that didn’t stop them from dropping almost double the amount of weapons as previous units.
