A&FRC kicks off 10th annual Military Saves Campaign

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- Base leadership joined the dedicated staff of the Nellis Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center Thursday in signing a proclamation declaring the start of the tenth annual Military Saves Campaign.

The campaign, a directive sourced from an Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff memo, is a week- long opportunity for Airmen and their families to attend multiple courses focused on improving their financial readiness. The campaign slogan, "Start Small, Think Big," highlights the core objective of making service members aware of their tremendous power to save and set goals.

"The purpose of the program is to encourage our Airmen, their families, and the rest of the Nellis community to save more, get out of debt, and ultimately build wealth," said Quan Franklin, A&FRC personal finance manager. "Personal finance can have real effects on your career and every aspect of your lifestyle, so it's something you want to make sure you're managing properly."

Military Saves Week classes will take place exclusively at the A&FRC, and will kick off with "Basic Investing" on Feb. 22. Other courses available to community members will cover useful topics like home ownership, couponing, car buying and more common financial pitfalls.

Subject matter experts from the A&FRC staff, federal, and state resources wait enthusiastically to help class attendees and their families commit to feasible financial goals and ask that supervisors encourage Airmen to visit www.militarysaves.org, take the "Saver Pledge," and the support the 2016 initiative to "Make Saving Automatic."
