    The 24th Tactical Air Support Squadron was inactivated during a ceremony at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, Dec. 23, 2020. The inactivation is part of an overall Air Force strategy to reactivate the 65th Aggressor Squadron.

  • SAR Mapping put to the test in Bomb Hit Assessment

    The 422nd Test and Evaluation squadron conducted at Synthetic Aperture Radar Map Bomb Hit Assessment on December 15, 2020.   During this test, two F-15Es dropped live Joint Direct Attack Munitions, while other weapons systems including F-15Es, F-35s, F-16s, FA-18s, RQ-4, MQ-9, U-2 and joint partners used SAR Mapping technology to assess if the bombs hit and destroyed the intended targets.  
  • On the eve of its first anniversary, U.S Space Force educates kids about importance of STEM education

    On the eve of the U.S. Space Force’s (USSF) first anniversary, its members led a virtual Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative, known as DeSTEMber, focused on connecting the nation’s elementary school students with space professionals. Members of the 328th Weapons Squadron (WPS), assigned to Star Delta, met virtually with 850 students around the Las Vegas Valley Dec. 15-17, including 400 first, second and third grade students from Coral Academy at Nellis Air Force Base. They showcased how the USSF operates, fostering excitement about STEM and recruiting future service members.

    For the 14th time in its history, Air Combat Command officials recently announced the 57th Wing, led by Brig. Gen. Michael R. Drowley, as among the very best, as it earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for the period of June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020.
  • 84th Radar Evaluation Squadron supports Long Range Radar programs during pandemic

    The 84th Radar Evaluations Squadron’s unique mission persists as the United States continues to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The 84th RADES at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, evaluates Long Range Radars all over the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, and in several deployed areas of responsibility. Typically, this unique mission involves a great deal of travel with teams going to austere radar sites for 14 – 21 days to perform analysis, evaluation, and system performance optimization. The COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions forced the unit to modify many processes to continue to perform their mission.
  • Herk Nation, mission partners tackle JFE exercise

    Little Rock launched six C-130J Super Hercules in support of the U.S. Air Force Weapons School’s Joint Forcible Entry exercise at the Nevada Test and Training Range, Dec. 6. The USAF Weapons School teaches graduate-level instructor courses that provide the world's most advanced training in weapons and tactics employment. The culmination of the course is the Advanced Integration phase in which all assets combine in challenging scenarios, simulating current and future threat arenas.
