Nellis Air Force Base Public Affairs

Mission

Nellis Air Force Base Public Affairs is the installation Public Affairs office for Nellis Air Force Base and the Nevada Test and Training Range. It serves as the lead organization for all Public Affairs activities for the installation, including tenant units.

Core Support Priorities

Crisis & Emergency Response
  • Time-critical official investigations, crisis response and other requests directly affecting the installation’s ability to perform its operational mission. Requests include alert documentation for evidentiary and decisional purposes, and assisting senior leaders with public and media interaction during emergencies and contingencies.
Operational & Command Objectives
  • Combat readiness, wing-level or higher commander priorities and objectives, operational test and evaluation missions, and major command-directed support. Requests may include media engagements, command information coverage, or community relations engagements such as tours, speakers, statics, flyovers and base participation in off-base events on an as-available basis.
Education & Base Support
  • Education and training, unit-level internal information, wing-level and above official recognition programs and installation support.

Service Guidelines & Limitations

Event Documentation. We may document newsworthy or historical events (as determined by the chief of PA). Documentation of changes of command are limited to group-level and higher; documentation of promotions, appointments and retirements are limited to wing-level or higher
commanders, vice commanders, and command chief master sergeants.

Group Photos. Squadron and above. One photo per commander tour. Requesting POC will be responsible for all logistics; PA will advise on location setup and formation style. Specific requests outside of a standard formation must be stated in initial request. Members in formation photos must comply with uniform standards and reflect a professional military image.

Awards/Recognition Coverage. Coverage of awards is limited to award winners at the wing level and above.

Self-Help Equipment. We will provide self-help photography/video equipment for official requirements for which support is unavailable or for events, which organizers did not schedule support. Equipment is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers are responsible for the downloading and distribution of media using self-help equipment.

  • Squadron-level and above Commanders, Superintendents and First Sergeants
  • Quarterly and annual awards winners at the wing-level and above

If you would like a photo and it doesn't meet the above criteria, Nellis Life Marketing Services has a photo studio on base.

Be Prepared

Please ensure your uniform is ready and serviceable before your appointment. Refer to AFI 36-2903.

If the uniform is not ready by the scheduled time, you will be forced to reschedule for another day and time. It is your responsibility to ensure your uniform, badges, ribbons, devices and accessories meet or exceed your military service requirements, standards or instructions.

Our photographers are Airmen. Service members from other branches are encouraged to bring someone to look over uniform items.

Schedule An Appointment

Public Affairs Office will be in touch to confirm your request meets the current requirements. Appointments for photographs that are not supported will be canceled.

Head and shoulder photos are taken on Mondays and Wednesdays. Full-length photos are taken on Fridays

Please arrive 10 minutes before scheduled appointment time.

Submit a "Studio Photography" request through our customer service portal using your military email.
