Chief Master Sergeant THOMAS C. SCHAEFER II

Chief Master Sergeant Thomas Schaefer is the Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 57th Wing, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Chief Schaefer advises the wing commander on the employment of 3,200 personnel in 37 squadrons at 11 installations. He is responsible for readiness, training, morale, welfare, personal and professional growth and member utilization in the Air Force’s most diverse flying wing. The wing flies more than 180 aircraft and is comprised of the 57th Operations Group, the 57th Maintenance Group and the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. Additionally, the wing is responsible for the U.S. Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Squadron, and Red and Green Flag exercises.

CMSgt Schaefer is a native of Newport Beach, CA. He entered the Air Force in November of 1997 and graduated from the Tactical Air Command and Control Specialist School at Hurlburt Field, Florida in June of 1998. He has an extensive background within the Tactical Air Control Party Community serving during deployments in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, JOINT GUARD, JOINT FORGE, ALLIED FORCE, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, SPARTAN SHIELD and INHERENT RESOLVE.

Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant (Wolf Chief) of the 8th Fighter Wing, Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea.
