21st CPTS scheduled closure
The 21st Comptroller Squadron at Peterson and Schriever Air Force Base are scheduled to close Friday for an official function.
New avenue for P-S GAR commander questions
If you have questions or concerns for the garrison commander and you would like to communicate anonymously, use the new “Questions?” feature on Schriever’s Air Force Connect app. The commander will answer the questions on a regular basis through Garrison wide emails and social media.
Air Force reduces tuition assistance
The fiscal year limit for Military Tuition Assistance has decreased from $4,500 to $3,750, effective immediately. The credit hour limits remain the same at $250 per semester hour and $166.66 per quarter hour. All TA applications will be routed using the standard procedures on the Air Force Virtual Education Center, and can be submitted up to 45 days in advance of the start of the course.

SFS will confiscate expired CACs
Members of the 50th Security Forces Squadron will confiscate all expired Common Access Cards at the gate. Dependent family and retirees, ID (non-CAC) card expirations have been extended to June 30, 2021. CACs may be reissued due to expiration, authorized rank and/or name changes. El Paso County remains in Stage II fire restrictions
El Paso County remains in Stage II fire restrictions. This includes Peterson and Schriever Air Force Bases and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station.
The following activities and items are prohibited:
- Campfires at camps and picnic grounds
- Model rockets
- Public prescribed burning/burn permits
- Outdoor smoking
- Sale or use of fireworks
- Outdoor cooking (grilling, except propane)
- Outdoor fires
On base
Schriever to host promotion ceremony
Schriever Air Force Base is scheduled to host a promotion ceremony at the base event center 8:30 a.m., Friday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited but Airmen are encouraged to attend. Units with promotes will have entry priority. Airmen must wear a mask and practice physical distancing. For more information, call Master Sgt. Kathryn North at 567-2445.
Shred truck comes to Schriever
The federal document shred truck is scheduled to be outside the North restricted area portal 9-11 a.m. and at Bldg. 210, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Nov. 9.
Schriever to host “Caring for People” forum
Schriever is scheduled to host a ‘Caring for People’ forum 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the base event center Nov. 17. The Caring for People forum is a data collection tool used to identify issues and concerns on the installation. The information gathered from attendees is used to improve quality of life for Airmen and installation programs. For more information, call Jan Devitt at 719-567-5726.
AFRC to host Right Start
The Airman and Family Readiness Center is hosting a Right Start Information Fair 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the base event center. Right Start is a mandatory course for incoming active duty members and Department of Defense affiliated contractors that informs personnel about programs and resources on the installation. Attendance is optional for dependents but is highly encouraged. For more information, call Lawanda Ervin at 567-7347.
CFC kicks off
Schriever Air Force Base’s Combined Federal Campaign workplace giving program has kicked off, and will continue through Dec. 18. As a reminder, fundraising events that are not part of the CFC are prohibited during this time.

Force Development Flight relocates
The Schriever Force Development Flight and Education and Training Center is now relocated throughout Bldg. 210 as their office is undergoing renovations.
To mitigate disruption to the shared customer service spaces that the Force Development Flight will occupy, members are encouraged to call ahead for all services, e.g. career assistance advisor, education counseling, tuition assistance and GI Bill.

Clinic suspends over-the-counter program indefinitely
The 21st Medical Squadron pharmacy has suspended the over-the-counter medication program indefinitely to ensure patients are receiving the appropriate level of care and assessment due to ongoing events.

Nominate for Military Child of the Year Award
The Military Child of the Year Award committee is now accepting nominations to celebrate the achievements of eight military children. Winners receive a $10,000 award, a laptop and are flown with a parent to Washington D.C. for three nights. Nominations are accepted until Dec. 7. Safety 411
Halloween is usually associated with candy, trick or treating and pumpkin carving. But there are potential dangers, especially during a pandemic. Remember to follow Peterson-Schriever Garrison policies and keep these safety tips in mind:
- Never let children go inside a home to accept candy.
- Inspect candy before eating.
- Look for flame-resistant costumes and accessories.
- Ensure costume fits properly.
- Use a flashlight, glow sticks or reflective tape on costumes.
- If wearing a costume mask, test for visibility and breathability.
- Always use crosswalks.
- Stay together and have a meeting spot if you get seperated.
