57th Wing to Welcome New Commander at Change of Command Ceremony
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. – Brig. Gen. Robert G. Novotny will assume command of the 57th Wing from Brig. Gen. Jeannie M. Leavitt during a change of command ceremony at 8:57 a.m. June 8, 2018, at the Lightning Hangar here.
The 57th Wing provides advanced, realistic, and multi-domain training focused on ensuring dominance through air, space and cyberspace. The 57th Wing builds innovative leaders in tactics, training and high-end warfighting to ensure world-wide combat air forces are prepared for tomorrow's victories, while overseeing dynamic and challenging flight operations at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. As the most diverse flying wing in the Air Force, the 57th Wing is comprised of the United States Air Force Weapons School, 57th Maintenance Group, 57th Operations Group (Close Air Support Integration Group), 57th Adversary Tactics Group, the Thunderbirds, U.S. Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Operations School (AMMOS), and the 561st Joint Tactics Squadron.
Brig. Gen. Novotny commissioned in 1992 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a command pilot with 2,500 flight hours in 11 different aircraft, primarily in the F-15C/D/E, and more than 540 combat hours. He has served in a variety of flying, staff, and command assignments including as the Chief of Staff for the 9th Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command at Kabul, Afghanistan, and the Commander of the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, England. Most recently he was the Deputy Director of Plans, Programs, Requirements at Headquarters Air Combat Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
Brig. Gen. Leavitt’s next assignment will be as the Commander of Air Force Recruiting Service, Air Education and Training Command at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.
