As the cooler winter months approach, it is important to remember to comply with Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel, when dressing for the day. According to AFI 36-2903, the watch cap may be worn only when approved by the installation commander and only when wearing the Airman Battle Uniform’s authorized outer garments or Physical Training uniform. Simon Sinek, an internationally renowned speaker and author, uses a metal detector to locate a mine set up by Explosive Ordinance Disposal Airmen at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Oct. 1, 2014. Nellis remembers POWs, those MIA

William Dean Whitaker, a World War II veteran and former prisoner of war, shares a story with Col. Thomas E. Dempsey III, Nevada Test and Training Range commander, during the Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Recognition Ceremony at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Sept. 19, 2014. Whitaker, who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps’ 603rd Bomb Squadron as a bombardier and navigator, was completing a mission over Merseburg, Germany when his B-17 was shot down on Nov. 2, 1944, and was subsequently held as a POW for seven months. Whitaker attends Nellis’ POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony every year to pay his respects and honor the legacy of his fallen brothers who were POWs or are still MIA. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
