NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.-- Nellis Honor Guard perform a the flag folding ceremony for the Goodman family during the repatriation and funeral ceremony in honor of Maj. Russel C. Goodman at the Thunderbird hanger on Nellis AFB, Jan. 14. Maj. Goodman served as the narrator for the U.S. Air Force "Thunderbirds" from 1964-65 and was declared Missing-In-Action after his aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile in Feb. 1967, while on a combat mission over North Vietnam.

Goodman an American flag during the repatriation and funeral service for Maj. Goodman Jan. 14. Maj. Goodman served as the narrator for the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds from 1964-65 and was declared Missing-In-Action after his aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile in Feb. 1967, while on a combat mission over North Vietnam.

LAS VEGAS-- The Clark County Fire Department pays respects to Maj. Russell C. Goodman as his hearse leaves McCarran International Airport Jan. 12. Major Goodman served as the narrator for the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadon "Thunderbirds" from 1964-65 and was declared missing in action after his aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile Feb. 20, 1967, while on a combat mission over North Vietnam. At the time of his loss, Major Goodman was still assigned to the Thunderbirds and was flying with the U.S. Navy on an exchange program. Funeral services for Major Goodman will take place at the Thunderbirds Hangar at Nellis AFB Jan. 14. He is to be buried in Alaska at a date determined by his family. Medical warrior STEP promoted to Master Sgt.
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.--Tech Sgt. Phyllis Quinories, 99th Medical Group, receives her new Master Sgt. stripes from Col. Dave Belote, 99th Air Base Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Alfred Herring, 99th Air Base Wing command chief, during a surprise Stripes for Exceptional Performance promotion ceremony at the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital Dec. 31, 2009. Each year, the Air Force releases a limited number of slots for a STEP promotion. The slots are distributed to the various Major Commands who distribute quotas to each of their wings. There are generally only two or three STEP allocations given to each Wing per year.
