2012 CFC kicks off at Nellis, Creech and NTTR

9/7/2012 - NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- The 2012 Combined Federal Campaign is scheduled begin Sept. 7 and will
conclude Dec. 15.
Within those 14 weeks, all personnel assigned to Nellis Air Force Base,
Creech AFB, and the Nevada Test and Training Range will have the opportunity
to donate to any of 25,000 non-profit organizations that have met the CFC's
standards and eligibility criteria.
Ken LoBene, co-chairman of the 2012 Nevada Combined Federal Campaign,
explains that the CFC's mission is to "promote and support philanthropy
through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in
providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of
life for all."
The CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity
campaign. Since its establishment in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, it
was reported that the CFC has collected nearly $7 billion from Federal
employees.
Last year, Airmen and civilian from Nellis, Creech, and the NTTR generously
donated more than $300,000 to support many causes ranging from helping
underprivileged children learn to read to providing service dogs for
disabled individuals. A complete list of charities can also be found at

Col. Barry Cornish, 99th Air Base Wing commander, encourages everyone to
help their community by making contributions to the CFC.
"The Combined Federal Campaign is our once-a-year opportunity to personally
choose those charities which we feel offer the most benefit to our service,
communities and families," Cornish wrote in a recent letter to all Nellis,
Creech and NTTR personnel. "As military and government civilian members, we
are afforded a rare opportunity to take the lead in showing the world that
charity begins at home."
Making a donation is easy and painless. To contribute, contact your unit's
CFC representative and they will assist you with selecting a charity,
completing the form and choosing the preferred method of payment. The
different ways to donate include monthly payroll deductions or paying in
full.
