Nellis is holding a Financial Protection Town Hall Meeting16 May, 1415-1530 at The Club, Ballroom A.
Are you experiencing financial hardships? Have you been the victim of predatory lending?
If either of these apply to you, your family or anyone you supervise, make time to attend a town hall meeting on 16 May at The Club on Nellis Air Force Base. Your inputs will be directly heard by the State of Nevada, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Pentagon.
What: Financial Protection Town Hall Meeting
Why: Discuss predatory lending practices, financial hardships, and general financial issues for military families
Who: All military members AND their families are invited to attend

Caring for People Forum School Support Group, May 24
The Airman & Family Readiness Center is in need of 12-15 participants for the Caring for People Forum School Support Group scheduled for May 24. Servicemembers, dependents, civilians, and teens with ideas and concerns about local military child education can lend their recommendations to a group discussion scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon. Forums such as this have produced lasting positions in use today, such as School Liaison Officers, Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinators and other positions meant to provide more support for Air Force families, so it's definitely worth the time and effort. 40th Anniversary Aggressor Reunion, Fri-Sat, June 1-2
For the first time, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of aggressor units at Nellis, the annual aggressor reunion will include all components of aggressor units, including air, ground, space, cyber and information aggressors. To highlight the occassion, the 57th Adversary Tactics Group will host a series of events, open to all with base access, including:
- A Family "Burger Burn" at Freedom Park - Noon, Friday and Saturday - Guided tours of the Threat Training Facility (a.k.a. the "Petting Zoo") - Friday, every 45 mins from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Flightline static displays of historic aggressor aircraft and threat systems, including T-38, F-5, F-15, F-16 jets plus SA-6 and SA-8 surface-to-air missile systems

Civil Air Patrol Nellis Squadron Open House, 6:30 p.m., Tues, May 15
The Civil Air Patrol, the official civilian auxilliary of the Air Force, will host an open house at the Nellis CAP Squadron, 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. The unit's office is located in the Nellis Airman Leadership School, in building 625 (the building just north of the base Commissary). The open house will highlight opportunities CAP provides through its three components:
- The cadet program, open to young adults 12-18 years old. The program offers leadership development, fixed-wing and glider flight orientations, summer activities, hands-on aerospace education events like robotics and rocketry, academic scholarships and more.
- The senior member program, open to adult volunteers 18 years and older. The program supports a diverse array of emergency service operations, including air and ground search and rescue, disaster relief, law enforcement surveillance assistance, and emergency communications missions. Some members may also help lead the cadet program.
- Aerospace education, also for adult volunteers but open to non-CAP members as well. This CAP mission helps the Air Force increase the public's understanding of air- and space-related topics and includes both public education events as well as cooperative programs with business, fraternal, civil, and service organizations.

Munitions Storage Area Closure
The Munitions Storage Area will be CLOSED for a wall-to-wall inventory from Jun 12-18. All issue requests must be submitted no later than COB May 29. Munitions must be picked up and/or turned in no later than Jun 12. Emergency issue requests must be approved, in writing, by the Group Commander or equivalent. Scheduling errors that result in issue requests for daily use and training munitions are NOT considered an emergency situation. Contact Master Sgt. Ryland, Master Sgt. Yoder or Tech. Sgt. Deployed/Extended TDY Military Members to Receive Discounted Water/Sewer Rates
The Clark County Water Reclamation District, through a partnership with Nellis & Creech AFBs Public Partnerships Office and the Legal Office will offer a reduced "Military Relief Rate" to members of the Armed Forces whose homes will be unoccupied due to military orders. Generally, this time period should be for more than one month. There is no outer time limit for the discount; it will apply for the duration of the orders.
Since the discount is being offered through Clark County Water Reclamation District, this policy applies primarily to homes in unincorporated areas of Clark County only. Members who receive utility service/billing from the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, or Henderson are not eligible for the discounted rate.
To secure the reduced rate, military members can obtain a copy of the form from the Legal Office, the Airman and Family Readiness Center, or the Clark County Water Reclamation District offices at 5857 E. Flamingo Drive. The form and a copy of military orders should be filed with the Clark County Water Reclamation District. Releasing information to the public?
All Air Force military and civilian personnel, including Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve personnel on active duty, and civilians under DoD contract who are stationed at Nellis Air Force Base and who intend to release military-related information to the public should contact the Nellis Public Affairs Office at 702-652-2750 and request a Security and Policy Review of their information.
