Chief Master Sergeant Robert A. Ellis is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The USAFWC's mission is to shape the way our force fights through operational testing, tactics development, and advanced training in air, space, and cyberspace at the operational and tactical levels. As the senior enlisted leader, Chief Ellis serves as the primary advisor to the commander on matters concerning the mission effectiveness, readiness, training, health, welfare and morale of more than 10,000 Airmen organized into four wings and one named activity serving at 31 locations in 20 states.

Chief Ellis is from Birmingham, Ala., but grew up in Chicago, Ill. He enlisted in the Air Force on Oct. 16, 1984, and graduated from the fuels specialist course at Chanute Air Force Base, lll., in February 1985. In March 1994, he retrained into the communications-computer systems career field. Chief Ellis' background includes various duties ranging from squadron to major-command level. His stateside assignments include bases in South Dakota, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Virginia, and Colorado. The Chief also served overseas in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan and Turkey, with deployments in support of Operations DESERT SHIELD, ALLIED FORCE and ENDURING FREEDOM.
