99 CES Purple Heart Recipients

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev.-- Col. Kevin Fox, 99th Mission Support Group commander, presents the Air Force Combat Action Medal to Tech. Sgt. Cory Kemp, 99th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technician, for his honorable service during Operation Enduring Freedom. The Combat Action Medal is awarded to Airmen who have been involved in direct fighting situations where they risked their lives in an enemy engagement. In addition, Sergeant Kemp received the Purple Heart, awarded to members of the U.S. military who are wounded by an enemy during combat operations. Sergeant Kemp sustained injuries from an improvised explosive device detonation in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in September. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Jamie Nicley)
