Airman 1st Class Shamika Verdejo is the Nellis Air Force Base Warrior of the Week. She is a health services management apprentice for the 99th Medial Operations Squadron

What do you do?
I work at the front desk of the Ophthalmology Clinic. I handle the administrative tasks such as schedule patient appointments, check in the patients, pull paperwork for the patient appointments, pick up medical records, answer the phone and take messages, mainly everything that needs to be done to ensure the patient is scheduled and ready for an appointment with the clinic.

What do you drive, and how does it match your personality?
1995 Honda Accord, I'm getting older but I'm still in good shape.

What's your favorite movie quote/ What Movie? 
" 'Cause I'm Mr. Oogie Boogie, and you, ain't going, nowhere." - Nightmare Before Christmas 

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
The power to erase thoughts from my memory. That way if I embarrass myself or if someone hurts me I can erase it from my memory.

If you could be an animal, what animal would you be and why?
A sea sponge. That way I'd be no animals prey and could live forever as a fossil.

What's your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
Go to the strip with friends and be spontaneous.

What are your favorite pizza toppings?
Little Caesars pizza topped with the good feeling of  "this large pizza was only 5 dollars!"

Name one thing your co-workers don't know about you.
I have some skills when it comes to singing.

Who's the greatest music artist to die too soon?
Aaliyah.

What is your favorite song to karaoke?
Fugees - Killing me Softly

What would you like to change on/about Nellis?
Add a drive thru to the dining hall.

In high school, what were you - a dork, jock, or something else?
The invisible woman. I was so shy and quiet no one knew I was there.

If you trapped on a deserted island, what would you bring?
A McDonalds, my best friends and a bunch of celebrities like Lupe Fiasco, Mary J. Blige, Linkin Park, Mariah Carey, and all the stars from Stomp the Yard!!!! 
Editor - It doesn't really sound like a deserted island anymore, does it?

What is your favorite AF uniform and why?
BDUs. Having sharp creases in your sleeves makes it seem like you have air force wings.

If you could appear on any reality TV show, what would it be and why?
Deal or No Deal because I did pretty well on the online version of it.

How do you remember your CAC at the end of the day?
By remembering the day I had to go to the visitors center and sponsor my self on the base because I forgot my CAC in my computer.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Opening the exam rooms and offices and turning the machines on to start the day.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
My dorm room.

How do you unwind?
Play a relaxing song in my mind, probably something by Lupe Fiasco, Mary J. Blige or Linkin Park.

How do you spend quality time with friends and family?
Shopping!!!

What is one thing you would recommend to everyone to do while living in So. Nevada.
Go to a UNLV basketball or football game with a lot of people.

Airman Verdejo is a highly energized Airman. When she is not doing her job or looking for ways to make improvements in the clinic, she is cleaning her work area. She has shown the ability to handle and complete all her duties to include medical research projects.
